Twilight Over Virginia

I thought I saw Virginia
calling over mountains home,
and oh, I thought I knew tomorrow
like the back of all my bones,

But yesterday and cold forgetting
left me stranded unawares,
and now the moon might still shine sometimes
but the twilight wouldn’t dare.
