Only Shadow

Perhaps I now make excuses
for my own lapse into shadow.
I do not deny the darkness.
I never have.
But must one fight shadow with shadow?
Not in all cases.
Only when shadow is repressed.
Then it must be coaxed out
before it can be handled,
managed, and governed.
And only shadow can coax out shadow.
