It was a magnificent display
of narcissism, much too perfect
to be believed. You have shown
your true colors, and I will remember
each cycle of idealization/devaluation,
proving further your lack of substance,
your total dependence on external validation.
You will gladly destroy if it meets your needs.
I don't need you, though you do need
someone like me, and perhaps you hoped
to spread your need, to destroy
as you have been destroyed. You are
so hollow, and I
have no room for you, even
in this generous heart.

But although you meant evil, the Lord
works good, for by showing me
just what I wanted, you melted the ice
around my heart. I have got all
I needed from you, and I'll keep it,
because it was mine all along.
