Eudaimonia

I am weaving a tapestry of the inner voices,
the drives for sex, power, love, food, reason, will,
together in harmonious oscillation, answering each other,
playing off of each other, to create eudaimonia,
the balance of strength that rarely consummates here.
This tapestry calls for itself, it assembles itself
out of pieces that vibrate with magnetism for each other,
and the humming of self made manifest answers.
It is I who have arrived, or is it the gods
whose work this surely is? There are no substitutes
for good spirits, and no other end in itself.

Is this then the purpose of power, the goal
of the struggle for resource and recognition?
These things have no substance of their own, but only
are tools in the service of the inner life,
the energies that beg for harmonization, which
Anima knows and conveys. What power can save a man
from himself, or free him from the burdens of the self?
He is what he is, forever, or at least until the end of his days.

Take the path toward peace, inner peace,
the path that you know but have often forgotten,
the path that will let you feel free at last,
the path that reveals all you are.
