Odysseus stands on Calypso's shores,
eyes set in the distance, envisioning
what may yet be. He has seen himself
degraded, and now made whole, somehow
made whole through the degradation.
He knows where desire lives, and how
to sail through it. He has in him
strength enough to hear sirensong
and not give in. But he always
preferred Penelope, and sails hence again.
