All Told

Two muses in the orbit of Sarasota.
One leaves as the other arrives.
Both wear a persona not their own.

Would there be an answer
to the startling synchronicity, yet another
confusion piled high atop the pyre
of burning hopes and dreams?
It was not as it seemed, it was not
the ephemeral wishing of an empty heart,
but instead something grander, some meaning
pulled down from the stars, to where we are,
still lonely, perhaps, but now caught in a story
worth telling. I'll listen and make for myself
this memento of whatever meaning falls sharply
from heaven and enters my heart. And I'll listen
until it's all told.
