Not Afraid
https://poems.culturing.net/2026/10/24/not-afraid/
A damaged woman, wounded
by too much love neglected, too many
unseen glances and gestures forgotten,
cries out now for help in a storm...now furious,
now self-abasing, now recalcitrant, now cute
and cuddly, she knows not what she is.
Like Jonah I flee to the belly of the whale.
Must I play Hosea
and love what consumes and destroys? Or
must I be more like Caesar, proud
and not afraid to say no?
